Allah states in the Quran: “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:40) This verse explicitly establishes that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the final Prophet.
This belief signifies the completion of Prophethood and the perfection of Islam as a way of life. It emphasizes that the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are complete and sufficient for all times until the Day of Judgment.
Throughout history, several false claimants of Prophethood have emerged. However, the Muslim Ummah has always collectively rejected such claims. Scholars, rulers, and the general public have consistently played a crucial role in defending this sacred belief.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The example of me and the prophets before me is like a man who built a house and completed it, except for a missing brick. People would circle around the house, admiring its beauty, but would say, ‘If only this brick were placed!’ I am that brick, and I am the Seal of the Prophets.” (Sahih Bukhari, Book of Virtues)
